Watercolour Exhibition “Daughter and Father: Sunsets of Läänemaa”

The opening of the watercolour exhibition “Daughter and Father: Sunsets of Läänemaa” will take place on Monday, 1 December at 17:00 in the staircase gallery of the Haapsalu Library reading hall.
The exhibition is part of the Integration and Adaptation Support in Haapsalu project. The project encourages people from diverse cultural backgrounds to take part in the cultural life of the local community.
Mexican-born architect and watercolour artist José Mario Calero Vizcaino and his daughter Emma present a collection of watercolours inspired by the fleeting evening light of Estonia’s western coast. For Emma this is already her third exhibition. José’s experience and Emma’s fresh perspective create a dialogue between generations. Together they offer two distinct yet harmonious interpretations of the space between sky and sea.
The opening evening will be warm and welcoming. It offers a chance to meet the artists, see the works up close and experience how light, colour and two cultural backgrounds enrich one another. Homemade cake and traditional morss will be served. The exhibition in Haapsalu is free of charge and everyone is welcome.
The exhibition is open from 1–31 December 2025 in the staircase gallery of the Haapsalu Library reading hall (Haapsalu Cultural Centre, Posti 3, Haapsalu).
If you’d like to look behind the scenes before the opening, you’re welcome to read more about José’s background. His story describes how he found his way to Estonia and what it means to live between two homelands. You can find it in his personal story “A Love Letter Between Two Homelands” on our website.
