Athanasius Karydis Watercolour Exhibition “Fragments of Time”

Athanasius Karydis is a Greek artist living in Haapsalu. His watercolour exhibition “Fragments of Time” invites you to explore a world where watercolour, landscape painting and a personal artistic approach come together.
The artist introduces himself and his work:
“I am Athanasios, a watercolour artist whose journey has been one of evolution, experimentation, and passion. My artistic roots lie in representational landscape painting, a style that captures the serene beauty and vibrant energy of nature. Over time, however, I found myself seeking a deeper connection with my work and a challenge that would inspire both creativity and growth. This search led me toward realism, magic realism, and abstract geometrism. These styles allow me to explore the uncanny, the infinite, and the emotional depth within everyday life.
The unpredictable and demanding nature of watercolour remains my primary medium, although I also enjoy working with acrylics, oils, inks, and pencils. The fluidity of watercolour and its delicate balance between control and chaos reflect what I aim to express in my art. Moving between what is seen and what is felt, between the real and the surreal, continues to shape my growth as both an artist and a storyteller.
I was born in Greece and hold a master’s degree in architecture. I also received formal art education at university, where I studied under accomplished fine art professors. This background, combined with self-taught experimentation and continuous exploration, has shaped my approach to art.”
The exhibition “Fragments of Time” invites you to pause and see time, space and the inner world from a new perspective.
