Khinkali and varenyky cooking workshop

Varenyky and khinkali are dishes that have traditionally been made together. In many families, preparing them was shared time around the table. Someone rolled the dough, someone added the filling, someone shaped the dumplings. For this reason, these dishes are still prepared and eaten together in many cultures.
This is a hands-on cooking workshop for adults that focuses on shared food traditions.
Varenyky are a traditional dish from Eastern Europe, especially Ukraine. They are made from thin dough with different fillings. In Ukrainian, they are called варе́ники, which means “boiled things.” In the past, they also carried symbolic meaning and were linked to wishes for a good harvest.
Khinkali belong to traditional Georgian cuisine. They are hearty, meat-filled dumplings that are usually eaten by hand. Khinkali were most often prepared when larger groups gathered, as making them alone was not considered worthwhile.
Together with instructors Julia and Ave, we will prepare these traditional dishes, talk about food cultures, and enjoy cooking together. No previous cooking experience is required.
